Obsidian is volcanic glass, formed in volcanoes. The most common is black obsidian. The bright coloured obsidians have been reconstituted to add the colours - meaning they have been melted down in order to do so. The only natural colours you will find are black, a very deep brown, and there is a very dark green obsidian that is natural as well, and is usually easy to identify by the imperfections in the crystal, the bubbles, the depth of the colour etc. If someone is claiming a brightly coloured obsidian is natural, they are misinformed. Reconstituted obsidian is still obsidian, but the colour has been adjusted.
