Let Animals Lead® is the only method of Animal Reiki recognized by the Canadian Reiki Association because it puts the animals first, and it is a thorough system of teachings that empower animals to lead their own healing path. This school of teachings was founded by Kathleen Prasad, who has been working with Animal Reiki for more than 25 years.
I've worked with people and Reiki since 2008, when I became a Reiki Master Teacher. Starting in the summer of 2024 I started taking classes with Leah D'Ambrosio, the co-founder of Let Animals Lead® and I became a Let Animals Lead® Practitioner November 26, 2024. As of August 25, 2025 I completed the Masters Teacher Level in Let Animals Lead® with Kathleen Prasad.
I am certified for the Let Animals Lead® Animal Reiki through the Canadian Reiki Association, having met their requirements.
This journey has been amazing so far! I've learned so much through Kathleen and Leah, and their system of working properly with animals on their healing paths.
My intention is to be offering Let Animals Lead® services and teaching in the new year, 2026. I continue to teach and practice Reiki with people.
More information will be forthcoming as I move along on this path.
Sincerely,
Tracey Rogers

Taken directly from the Canadian Reiki Association's website, here is a good starting place for understanding what I've studied, and what I practice:
Animal Reiki is:
- A unique method of working with animals wherein the Practitioner works in equal partnership with the animal. All animals, no matter how small or unique, should be approached with humility and respected as spiritual teachers in life and healing. Animals, like humans, possess physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual behaviours, to which Reiki can bring a profound healing transformation.
- A mental focus technique used to develop an “All is Well” state of mind for the Practitioner, who sees the animal’s perfection in the present moment rather than focusing on what is “wrong”.
- A mindful meditation practiced with animals rather than an energy-based therapy done to them.
- A partnership between the Practitioner and the animal.
- Respectful to the animal’s right to chose how they wish to receive Reiki during a session. The animal must always be given agency.
Animal Reiki is NOT:
- A modified version of human Reiki. It is its own unique method.
- A hands-on interaction with the animal. Touch is only used when the animal seeks it out, and only then as a compassionate support to the animal.
- Animal communication. Animal Reiki should be kept separate from animal communication. The goal of each modality is different so they should not be performed at the same time. We do not need to know what is wrong with the animal, but rather connect with the animal and hold space for the animal to support them in their own healing.
- A way to diagnose medical conditions
- A substitution for seeking medical treatment.
- A system that works with chakras or animal anatomy.
